Meet Lydia Clark-Betts

Founder of The Repurposed Room, a design studio rooted in sustainability, storytelling, and nature. After a career in graphic design, I retrained in interior design while raising my family. Our first home became my creative project, an eclectic mix of second-hand treasures and new finds that sold in six weeks at full asking price.

My passion for antiques and second-hand began at a London auction house, where I worked with everything from overlooked objects to million-pound heirlooms. This love of timeless, well-made pieces – combined with the heirlooms passed down in my own family – shaped my belief that interiors should be full of character, history,
and meaning.

Living in the National Forest, I draw inspiration from nature to create happy, soulful spaces. My philosophy is simple: design should be sustainable, nature-led, and centred on wellbeing – where every room tells a story that is beautiful, meaningful, and uniquely yours.

My Philosophy

At The Repurposed Room, design is more than aesthetics – it is about balance, meaning, and care. I believe in placing sustainability first by valuing second-hand, upcycled, and timeless pieces built to last; designing with soul by combining the old with the new to create interiors full of character and story. Keeping nature at the heart by drawing on grounding colour palettes and natural textures; and always working with wellbeing in mind to craft spaces that uplift, nurture calm, and promote happiness. Every room tells a story, and my philosophy is to make sure yours is beautiful, sustainable, and uniquely you.
