Meet Lydia Clark-Betts

Founder of The Repurposed Room, a design studio rooted in sustainability, storytelling, and nature. After a career in graphic design, I retrained in interior design while raising my family. Our first home became my creative project, an eclectic mix of second-hand treasures and new finds that sold in six weeks at full asking price.

My passion for antiques and second-hand began at a London auction house, where I worked with everything from overlooked objects to million-pound heirlooms. This love of timeless, well-made pieces – combined with the heirlooms passed down in my own family – shaped my belief that interiors should be full of character, history, and meaning.

Living in the National Forest, I draw inspiration from nature to create happy, soulful spaces. My philosophy is simple: design should be sustainable, nature-led, and centred on wellbeing – where every room tells a story that is beautiful, meaningful, and uniquely yours.

My Philosophy

At The Repurposed Room, design is more than aesthetics – it is about balance, meaning, and care. I believe in placing sustainability first by valuing second-hand, upcycled, and timeless pieces built to last; designing with soul by combining the old with the new to create interiors full of character and story; keeping nature at the heart by drawing on grounding colour palettes and natural textures; and always working with wellbeing in mind to craft spaces that uplift, nurture calm, and promote happiness. Every room tells a story, and my philosophy is to make sure yours is beautiful, sustainable, and uniquely you.
